Good Africa Books

Interested in thoughts on good books about Africa! Fiction or non-fiction. Here's what I've got so far... leave me a comment to add to the list!
  • Baking Cakes in Kigali
  • Say You're One of Them (note: if you like Jhumpa Lahari's short stories, you will LOVE this)
  • Shake Hands with the Devil
  • Half the Sky
  • It's Our Turn to Eat

  1. Hmmmm... the book "Out of Africa" was very good, but I loved the movie more. "What is the What" by Dave Eggers... "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver "Cry the Beloved Country" by Alan Paton. Nelson Mandela Biography.

And then the other day I saw a book in the airport called "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" and thought what the heck is this, it looked like one of those stupid Sophie Kinsella books, but it is in Africa. Not sure about this book - haven't read it, but did read all the others!
